About this event

Description: CURE Mentor Training Series - Spring 2022

Summer is nearly upon us and it's time to start developing short-term research projects for summer trainees. In this session we will reflect on what makes a good short-term research project and how we can begin designing one.

By the end of the session participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the characteristics of an effective and realistic short-term research project
  2. Reflect on tools to scaffold short-term research8 project design
  3. Engage with other mentors as they share their experiences with short-term research projects

Please note: the Mentor Training Series workshops are highly interactive and engaging. Please be prepared to participate in the discussions and turn your cameras on when possible

The Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC) and UMass Boston Research Education Core (REC) Program, in collaboration with the HMS/HSDM Office for Postdoctoral Fellows, are offering a series of mentor training workshops focused on mentorship development and shared practice for current, past, and prospective mentors. Emphasis will be placed on exploring your mentoring style, inclusive mentorship practices, and providing guidance to junior mentees (such as undergraduates). Certificates of completion* will be provided to participants who complete the mentor training series.

Sessions will be held on Thursdays from 1:00-2:00pm over Zoom.

*Certificate of Completion: Attend Jan 20 (Introduction to Mentoring) AND Apr 14 (Addressing Diversity & Inclusion) workshops, plus at least any two others from the series.
